Iphone 6 delayed "wake up" post iOS 10

After updating to iOS 10, my iphone has gotten progressively slower to respond to pressing the home button to wake up. Of course it does not recognize the finger print which I could live with, but it will not open to the pass code entry screen consistently....remains black sometimes for minutes. Home button works perfect once the phone allows me in. Will also not connect to iTunes to allow me to revert back to iOS 9. Gives me some type of connection error. Any thoughts are appreciated. Battery is drained super fast as well.
